The Blue Mountains
by Marilyn Williams

The Blue Mountains are found only about 90 minutes NW of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

The area around Sydney, to the foot of the mountains, is reasonably flat, but the rise up into the mountains is really quite steep.

The main city of the Blue Mountains is Katoomba, and the scenery spectacular.

Glorious views of deep valleys and sheer cliffs.

For echoes in the Blue Mountains, yell out at Echo Point and hear your voice return!

Walks, going deep down into the valleys take you down countless steps.

And easy way to enjoy the vista is by riding in the Skyway
Marvellous views of The Three Sisters in the distance.

Wonderful waterfalls, falling straight down over the sheer cliffs.

Very cold mountain ponds.

A thrilling ride in the The Scenic Railway takes you from the very top,
through a little cave and straight over the edge.
This is the steepest railway in the world.

This little railway was used around 100 years ago for the miners working in the area.

After getting off The Scenic Railway,
there's a lovely valley floor walk.

One of the old steam trains on the Zig Zag Railway... a ride back into time.

Caves House... the hotel at Genolan Caves.

A variety of wonderful limestone caves, with guided tours to show off their fantastic formations.

Limestone caves means the wonderful blue water created by the limestone.
This is called the Blue Lake.

There is something for everyone up on the Blue Mountains...
a truly lovely experience that everyone should enjoy at least once in their lives!
